時間的長廊與天才唐鳯

1990年初，台大數學系教授黃武雄為了教改活動寫下〈時間的長廊〉這首詩。那時唐鳳還小（9歲？），在某期《人本教育札記》裡讀過那首詩。 過了二十多年，與父親正在巴黎旅遊的唐鳳，突然想起那首詩，並向黃教授確認是不是原作者，並附上英譯。黃教授表示，唐鳳從記憶中喚回的字句，幾乎一字不差；他自己都忘了寫過，而且唐鳯的英譯真好。 這是一年前的故事。唐鳯是自學成功的，這在講究學歷的台灣很不容易，但應驗了米蘭．昆德拉Milan Kundera的一句話：「大學生和自學者的差別與其說在於知識，還不如說在於他們的生命力以及自信心」(eaton)

我走在時間的長廊 踩爛每一塊地磚 我問廊柱邊的每一個人： 「我在做什麼？」
有的人瞪大眼睛 有的人面無表情 只有一個憂戚的聲音回應： 「你不用問，不用問」 「那麼我是什麼？」 同樣的眼睛，同樣的表情 同樣的聲音回應： 「你不用知道，不用知道」 我活該是廊下的燈蛾 守著燈、守著每一寸分數 我斤斤計較、目光如豆 為了那毋需爭議的出路。 我不看蝴蝶 不玩螢火蟲 不做少年的夢 我不要問： 「鮭魚如何游回牠的故鄉？」 「北極星如何不動？」 我不要知道什麼是 「臭氧層」與「車諾堡」 「國家預算有多少？」 每天背公式、背題目 背標準答案 背抽去生命的人名、地名 這才是正經事，這才是乖孩子 我原地踏步，在每一塊 同樣形狀 同樣大小 同樣黑白的地磚上 我走在時間的長廊 踩爛每一塊地磚 我原地踏步 送走蒼白的歲月
