Joan Baez：500 Miles ／eaton

這首是民謠創作女歌手Hedy Westand於1961年推出的專輯，1960年代在美國和歐洲相當流行。簡單的重複歌詞，生動說出一個年輕人為了夢想，獨自遠走他鄉，但露出思鄉的惆悵與悲情：沒錢，回家太羞愧了。緊接著，Peter, Paul and Mary 三重唱（The Kingston Trio）在1962年翻唱。   

鄉村歌手Bobby Bare在1963年填上新詞，改編為 Five Hundred Miles Away from Home,  描述一個一事無成的異鄉遊子返鄉的心情，因為身無分文，只能一路靠著好心人搭載，沒有便車可搭，一邊坐在路邊等待，一邊反覆閱讀母親的家書。聽來聽去，還是Joan Baez的最好聽。
